Makes me smile

These past few days have been rather intense, as I am finally nearing the launch of my next grand adventure. Mornings are crisp and afternoons are still bright and warm, as shorter days are fading into nights that are nearly cold.  Lately, I have been all work and little play, so in lieu of soirées and other beautiful adventures, plans were made to do absolutely nothing at all. Although there was still time for leisurely morning brunch, shopping for beautiful dresses, reading under the October sun – warm and golden on my face, fresh raspberries tarts (almost too beautiful to eat) and time with friends. I love todays inspiration images.  I wanted to put together something romantic, fashion inspired and sexy…

Let your mind take you everywhere that’s beautiful.

Wishing you a weekend of magical moments

I hope that your holiday weekend was filled to the brim with celebration and tons of laughter. Mine was spent with my beautiful twin cousins, Angii and Mandy.  There was talk about the past, the present, and so many other lovely things; beautiful late night dinners and early morning breakfasts, there were in-depth makeup lessons, followed by a cool, sunlit shopping experience and a stop by my favorite restaurant for lunch and frozen gelato — just to name a few of our fabulous weekend activities!

“Let us read and let us dance; these two amusements will never do any harm to the world”

– Voltaire

Saturday night was dancing – in our prettiest dresses and highest heels – under a chandelier lit canopy of lights that illuminated grass-covered walls and gorgeous decor…  We danced the night away, amongst smiles and laughter; a feeling of magic in the air, as we were swept away by the music, new friends and the most spectacular rooftop garden.  It was an unforgettable night! A special thank you to my cousins, who are both newly married and chose to leave their men at home to come wing-man this single girl! Now that’s true love!  😉

Remember, there is always time to put on your prettiest skirt and twirl around to your favorite song. Even if you’re all alone. Never stop dancing, it keeps you young!

Let your imagination carry you away, to the beaches of Brazil, Hawaii, Greece; wherever your mind takes you. Sailboats and nautical stripes, coral and bikinis… Let yourself be swept away, for the warmth and beauty of summer, will soon be fading into a new season.

Today, I enjoyed the cool breeze off of the ocean, stuck my feet into the warm sand and felt the touch of sunlight, warming my skin and relaxing my body and mind. I’ve been so preoccupied these days.  I sometimes share deep truths about my life on this blog, but I really try to make it more of a beautiful escape… for us all. It’s so important to take time to enjoy the simple things, to reflect and meditate…. life is simply one beautiful day at a time.

“She loved the sea. She liked the sharp salty smell of the air, and the vastness of the horizons bounded only by a vault of azure sky above. It made her feel small, but free.”

A few gorgeously chic ideas and images for all fashionistas out there . . . Dreamy mixtures of fashion and a few favorite things. Diamonds layered upon diamonds and blush colored couture- truly fit for royalty- are amongst this collection of utterly beautiful images.  I find myself dreaming about velvet ribbon-tied heels, white bouquets of roses, sheer tulle skirts and delicate lace dresses, just to name a few. . .

Wishing you a beautiful Monday. xo

“Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, and what is happening.”

Today was another STUNNINGLY beautiful summer day. It’s that time of year again, where the 78 degree weather along the coast of sunny San Diego, justifies the insanely high rent prices that we begrudgingly pay each month.  The sun-dappled terraces beckon and it’s impossible to stay indoors. The day brings sunshine that kisses your skin with warmth and nights filled with cool ocean breezes.  Having this week off of work, I am making every effort to soak in the sunshine and enjoy this beautiful place that I live in and so often take for granted.

So, I’m wishing you a beautiful day wherever you are, with a reminder to enjoy the world that surrounds you.  Wether that’s rolling hills, city architecture, sandy beaches, or mountains with flowers and streams…  Don’t get so busy that you miss the beauty that’s all around you. For God’s creation is truly a masterpiece.

I thought I’d start out this week with a little romance, which begs the question, ladies, is your tiara on straight? You never know when prince charming might sweep you off those Christian Louboutins and change your world forever… But until then, keep dreaming, never lose hope and wear beautiful dresses and accessories that make you feel like the gorgeous princess you are 🙂

Wishing you a magical week filled with beauty.

* It is never too late to be who you want to be

* Taking extra time to put on makeup and do your hair really does make you feel better about yourself… and life in general

* A man who loves you will listen to your needs and do his best to try and meet them

* Handwritten notes/cards are a lost art & very special

* God can turn any situation into a blessing

* A bouquet of my favorite flowers will probably always mean more to me than diamonds… minus that one very special diamond

It has been an introspective time, a time of change, thinking and planning . . . a time for dreaming — about nothing and everything all at once.  And without  being too deep or too serious, I’ll dream of tiaras, ball gowns in nature, the perfect pair of elegant shoes — fit for a princess. So if thoughts at this moment were to fall, they would probably look something like this . . .

Welcome to February! The month of pink and red, blossoms the color of spring, and romance. I am going to do what I do every year, make sure that I give the men in your lives some advice.

— Dont ever buy the jewelry sets advertised on TV, they can be summed up in one word, tacky.

— No red roses, way too cliché. That is, unless those are her favorite flowers. Know what flowers your girl loves and do everything in your power to get those, even if it is a single stem of her favorite type.

— I have always made my own Valentines Day cards. They are extra special due to the time and creativity I put forth in making them. Guys, I don’t expect you to turn into Martha Stewart overnight, it is ok to buy a card. My tip is this: take the time to write in it, don’t just sign your name at the bottom of what really is another persons printed love letter. Make it your own. I have a friend who handmade Valentines for her guy and is sending him one everyday in the mail until the 14th. That’s 14 small little Valentines! Adorable.

As for me, I am optimistically hopeful that my prince charming will show up on the 14th with a bouquet of pink peonies. If not this year, maybe the next. Nonetheless, something like this…

Or perhaps a mixed bouquet with garden roses (they are very different from regular roses, as you can see in the picture below) equally stunning and a lot more cost-effective…

These flowers can be hard to find and if you plan to buy online get ready to pay a hefty price tag. My advice– if you live in San Diego, check out Green Fresh Florals located in Hillcrest. They carry the best selection, value and talent that I’ve seen. I adore them and exclusively work with Carlos and Travis for all my floral needs. I do however want to mention one other vendor that is spectacular — Blush Botanicals. I’ve seen their work but have not had the opportunity to work with them, I think they are rather costly, but they are definitely talented ladies. If you live out-of-state, find a local florist.

Here is how it works:

– I tell him how much I want to spend (anywhere from $35-50 dollars — pick a budget)

– We then pick out a couple different flowers and colors that catch my eye.

– The last important step is to tell your florist you want a “flower on flower arrangement” with NO greenery. Absolutely NO babies breath or filler greens! Flower next to flower gives a stunning and couture look to your arrangement (as shown in both pictures).

– Then simply let him work his magic.

A couple of notes: You can go in with your own vase or buy one there. You don’t NEED a vase, they present beautifully and are more cost-effective if you skip it. Most ladies already have several vases around the house. But, take into consideration that Travis will do a perfect arrangement in a vase and your girl might struggle a little if she has to cut and arrange them at home to fit her vase (especially if she doesn’t have cutting sheers, yes, you need them). The vases at the store are very reasonably priced.

Congratulations, you easily saved yourself $100 dollars and will be getting an arrangement that looks like it’s worth $200 dollars! And, you have also officially passed “How to give a girl Flowers 101” by Couture Makeup. One of the many classes I offer specializing in the art of sweeping a girl off her feet. 😉

Happy kissing! xo
